KRYSTAL REN'S REVIVAL

Young, fearless and very educated on our self image society, Krystal Ren treats her fans as equals with love and respect, is still grounded with her home town and is now on a revival stage after her first public break up with singer Kendrick Iman. She speaks to me all about how she is more faithful to the universe and is now happier that it happened for the best.

How do you have this positive mindset after the experience especially being only 18 years old and having the world watch your every move?
​
Of course, I am only human so I have my days just like anyone would but I've treated this experience as an opportunity to learn and grow as a person as I am more aware in what I truly deserve and what I am capable of. I think it's important to remember we only have one life so instead of reaching out to the negativity I would rather focus my time and energy that benefits me and my career.

Yes, I agree. I heard that you have a new album in the works, how would you describe this through your new revival?
​
I would describe it as though I finally feel free and content with the music I am creating as it is coming from my most true self. I don't care about whether everyone is going to like it because as long as I am creating art I am passionate about that is all that matters. My fans, well my friends I call them because they are, have been so supportive so I have a great community behind me.
​
So, you are saying that your new music is something we all would not expect from what we've heard from you before?
​
You could say that. When I first got into this, I had less control on what I wanted to release and create but now I have matured and have more experience in the industry, my label and management have more trust in me that I know what I am doing. I want to create music that means something to people, something they connect to and that tells a story within it.

Yes, I can imagine. Not only has your music took a 'revival' you have new hair I see. Was this influenced by the breakup?
​
Haha. A lot of people would assume that as many people do change their hair after a breakup, but no. I changed it to blonde just for fun really, for me. But of course, I love Taylor Swift so I think that did inspire me in some way.
​
Not only are you a fan of Taylor, but she as well has spoke about how much she adores you and your music on twitter. I can feel a new friendship starting to blossom.
​
It's a funny story with how I found out about the tweets because I was at the Moon awards when one of my friends that I brought screamed out to me while I was on the red carpet taking photos. A fan put a photo on instagram where I look in shock, completely gobsmacked and that was my reaction to finding out my idol noticed me. It's now a meme online so I laugh every time I see it.

That is hilarious, congratulations on winning best new artist of the year by the way. To finish off, what would you say to your fans if they are dealing with a breakup or anything similar? I can imagine them being teenagers just like you.
​
Well, if you think about it, you have a choice, you can either give into the negative thoughts and let the other people win or you can 'revive' and live your life for you. You don't want to look back on your teen years as you being sad as this time of your life is truly the most exciting so enjoy what is now and the people who do appreciate and love you. Take a different perspective and follow what lights your soul on fire and chase that. Take in charge of your life because you have so much potential to achieve so much.
